Calendar

This week is one of the traditional Quatuor Tempora (four times) of fasting, penance, and alms-giving, which came to be known as "Ember Days."  Each set of days is made up of a Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.  The Ember Days are recalled using the phrase "Lucy, Ashes, Dove and Cross” and are found in the four seasons of the year.    This set follows the feast of the Exaltation of Holy Cross on September 14th.  See here for more information.
