"The Immaculate Conception" by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo  (1696–1770)

Here are the announcements for the week:

FEAST of the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION: The feast falls on Friday, December 8th; hence, this week we have an adjusted schedule.  Please read the agenda in each course carefully to find the changes for each class.  There are no LIVE class cancellations, but all Friday tutor times are cancelled.

ANNUAL SCHOOL PHOTOS: Please upload your "headshot" school photo for the year (Teachers & Students) by finding the "Student Yearbook" section in the League course suite and following the instructions there.

"OTHER" YEARBOOK PHOTOS: Students are now able to upload meetup, extracurricular, and silly photos, as well.  These are not required, but encouraged.  See the "Student Yearbook" section of the League suite.

YEARBOOK COVER CONTEST: We are over due for a contest!  Design a cover for this years Student Yearbook and win a prize, as well as House Points.  See the details to be posted in the League Suite, this week.

POEM of the WEEK: "The Tables Turned" by William Wordsworth.  Recited by Sophia Spurlock.  (We meant to run this one over Thanksgiving Break--it sounds a bit rebellious for Unit 13!)

Student and instructor contributions for "Poem of the Week" are welcome.  Send a message to Mr. Rolling with "Poem of the Week," and the title and author of the poem you would like to recite.

TIP of the MORNING: "But the secret of good writing is to strip every sentence to its cleanest components.  Every word that serves no function, every long word that could be a short word, every adverb that carries the same meaning that's already in the verb, every passive construction that leaves the reader unsure of who is doing what--these are the thousand adulterants that weaken the strength of a sentence."
