It's Spirit Week!

We celebrate the Feast of Saint Thomas Aquinas (Jan. 28th), the patron of our school, the Ox in Oxrose, a poet of God's charity, and a doctor of God's wisdom.  With him (we hope), we give thanks to God for this wonderful community; we pray for our teachers, families, and students; and we celebrate our life together as Oxrosians!

You are all warmly encouraged to participate in the fun this week.  Each class day will have a theme (we usually wear something odd for class times) and a prayer intention, there will be challenges to complete (see the League page), and there will be several contests (to be posted in the League, as well).

The Schedule:

MONDAY

Class Time Theme: Hat Day (the odder the better)

Prayer Intention: For All Students

TUESDAY

Class Time Theme: Your House Colors (wear them loud and proud)

Prayer Intention: For All Teachers

7:30 AM: Morning Prayer (follow Mr. Rolling's Tutor Time Link)

2:00 PM: House Battle ~ Heronshaw vs. Chanticleer (Mr. Rolling's Tutor Time Link)

WEDNESDAY

Class Time Theme: School Gear & Colors

Prayer Intention: For All Parents

7:30 AM: Morning Prayer (follow Mr. Rolling's Tutor Time Link)

THURSDAY

Class Time Theme: Elf, Hobbit, Dwarf from the Lord of the Rings (See League page and be sure to take a photo for the costume contest)

Prayer Intention: For All Oxrosians

7:30 AM: Morning Prayer (follow Mr. Rolling's Tutor Time Link)

3:00 PM: House Battle ~ Heronshaw vs. Kingfisher (Mr. Rolling's Tutor Time Link)

FRIDAY

Prayer Intention: For the Church and the World

7:30 AM: Morning Prayer (follow Mr. Rolling's Tutor Time)

2:00 PM: House Battle ~ Chanticleer vs. Kingfisher (Mr. Rolling's Tutor Time Link)

2:45 PM: The Provosts Oral Exam ~ The Teachers are in the hot seat as they compete for house points.

Challenges & Contests (again, see the League for details)

House Verse Contest: Compete against your house mates to write the best verse for your house to the new school anthem.  Prize for the winner.

Elf, Hobbit, or Dwarf Costume Contest: Each house has been randomly assigned one race from the LOTR.  Compete within your house and against the whole school to win a prize and points for your house.

Act III Challenges: These draw inspiration from the life of Saint Thomas, complete them to grow in virtue and earn house points.

House Battles: These are head-to-head competitions between houses to win both house points and bragging rights.

The Point of Spirit Week:

We combat academic doldrums, spiritual apathy, the cynicism of the world, the sinfulness of our own fallen natures, and the gloom of winter by deciding to celebrate, with joy like swords, our good patron and our glorious God.  So, work hard to finish you assignments and join in the fun.
Come, Noble Oxrosians, let us celebrate together!
