Joža Uprka, "All Souls' Day" (1897)
ALL SOULS OCTAVE: An indulgence, applicable only to the Souls in Purgatory, is granted to the faithful, who devoutly visit a cemetery and pray, even if only mentally, for the departed. The indulgence is plenary each day from November 1-8; on other days of the year it is a partial indulgence. Manual of Indulgences, 4th ed., 1999 (Enchridion Indulgentarium)
‼️⏱‼️HOUSES ~ LAST DAY TO SUBMIT ICONS AND COSTUMES IS TOMORROW, NOV. 3 ‼️⏱‼️
LEAGUE REMINDER: The House Program is a League of Noble Oxrosians. I would like to exhort all of you, Noble Oxrosians, to review the pledge you took to join the League. It goes without saying, but is being said clearly here, that as Seekers of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty, you are expected to be honest in all endeavors and reports within the League's tasks and challenges. The whole system relies on honest reporting. It is only just that any student who is found to be reporting dishonestly, or carelessly, should not be allowed to participate in the League.
TESTING, TESTING, TESTING: This week, courses that have the thrice-a-year exam schedule are testing, which include TPT, History, and Great Books classes. This is the last batch of exams that fall mid-term. As usual, prioritize exam prep, watch out for deadlines, and work hard for the glory of God!
GB TUTOR TIMES: Great Books tests are "viva voce," i.e. oral exams, so Instructors Walsh, Kreuger, Keatley, Beaucourt, and Rolling may have adjusted schedules for tutoring. Students should look for notes from them. GB 2 and GB 3 Oral Exams are in Unit 11.
CLT10 EXAM: This Thursday, Nov. 5th 9th and 10th graders are taking the CLT10. Students are excused from morning classes until NOON for the exam. Please check your emails for an email with further instructions from office@oxroseacademy.com
LIVE EXAM MAKE-UP: Friday, Nov. 6th 10:00-1:00 pm there is an exam makeup for anyone who has a schedule conflict. This must be requested BEFORE the scheduled exam through Mrs. Mary at office@oxroseacademy.com.
CHRISTMAS CATALOGUE: Oxrose Press is pleased to offer items for the early shopper, including a second episode of Family Story Hour for Advent & Christmas and some book recommendations. Purchases support the school! View it HERE.
Reminders:
- RSVP Alecia Rolling at headmistress@oxroseacademy.com if attending the 5th Day of Christmas Wassail in Atchison, KS. Air B&B's and hotels are nearby. Kansas City is also offering a nice variety of fine arts performances still at this time!
