"For the Candlemas" Teodor Axentowicz

THIS WEEK includes the Feast of the Purification of Mary or the Presentation, also known as Candlemas, bringing our Christmas to a close.  Be sure to get your candles (and throats) blessed this week.  Here are a few notes for the unit.

> COMPS: Everyone watch those deadlines.  Knowing that there is no grace period for composition, it would be wise to complete the comp assignments as early in the week as possible!

> Unit 20 Exams: Now is about the time to give a first thought to exams coming up in unit 20.  Great Books, History, and TPT classes -- you have been warned!

> CLT: The dates for this year's CLT and some basic information have been posted on the Dashboard.  Please have a look.  We will open up enrollment for non-full time students shortly.  Big news for the school: Congratulations to our 7th and 8th graders last year!  They scored 14th nationally on the CLT 8.  Well done!  See the link on the Dashboard.

> Spirit Week: Well done to everyone: teachers, students, and families. We had great participation and a lot of fun.  We will be finishing out contests and announcing winners throughout this week as we tally things up.

> League: I extended the cut off for marking the "mini-challenges" to the end of the day today (Monday), just to make sure everyone who completed them got them marked.  I am excited to find out which house will take the lead!  Coats of Arms will be judged this week, as well.

Keep all of those who are ill in your prayers.  Don't forget: Do this week's work, this week.  Have a great week!

Wisdom of the Saints: "In a Christian, fear and love must go together.  In heaven, love will absorb fear; but in this world, fear and love must go together. No on can love God aright without fearing Him, though many fear Him and yet do not love Him.  Self-confident men do not fear God and they think this bold freedom is to love Him. Deliberate sinners fear but cannot love Him.  But devotion to Him consists in love and fear."
