"A Quiet Lake" by Ada Sherman
A quiet lake, so still, so wide,
Reflects the sky and hills with pride.
The trees stand tall in ordered grace,
Each sapling rooted in rightful place.
The mountains rise with snowy crown,
Watching over the restless town.
Their peaks proclaim a silent song
That strength and peace to God belong.
The clouds, they shroud the mountain peaks
With songs on high, you hear them speak
They whisper softly of a higher state
With a better life, a better fate
No painter’s brush, no builder’s hand,
Could craft this view or make it stand.
It speaks of One who shaped the land
With wisdom deep and love so grand.
So as I gaze, I understand:
This order flows from God’s command.
And in this frame of earth and sky,
I see His truth, and glorify.
